Before we start it is worth having a little preamble about what you are doing. You are going out into the big wide world to look for geocaches. One or two things to bear in mind…

· We don’t want the general public seeing the caches (they will think they are drugs or bombs and call the police!) so stealth is in order here.

· Geocaches generally are *not* on private land. There are very distinct rights of way where you *are* allowed to walk and there are very distinct private areas where you are not.

If you are going to confine your caching to urban areas, then stealth is the key. If you are going to venture into the countryside and have not done so before I would *seriously* recommend going on an organised walk just to get a feel for it. Seriously ! The Country Code is pretty much common sense, but take a little while to get accustomed to it.
