The
first ever Bat-Camp was on the weekend of 11-13 September 1998. Records and
memories from that time are rather hazy. The camp was in the general vicinity
of the “diving pond”
From
what we can work out there was probably about a dozen people along for this
first camp

Fishing was a popular way of spending time |
This camp saw the use of our first communal tent;
later replaced by “Brown and Smelly” |
We also had a leather sofa for camping in those
days |
And barbecue was the order of the day |
It would seem that it rained on Saturday 12
September as we were indoors in the Chequers
Judging from the photos I don’t think it could have
been very warm
But we caught fish – fishing is always popular at
camp.
