The Mote in God’s Eye has been a firm favourite of mine for over forty years. I have read it at least once in each of those forty years, and never tire of reading it. Humanity has reached the stars, and after a thousand years has finally found an alien spacecraft… and accidentally kills the occupant. There’s a sequel.
